About Danielle

Danielle Marie Robinson, AMFT

Approach

I believe effective therapy is both practical in its here-and-now support and also meaningful in understanding who you are and how you got here. I value the exploration of your unique story, your inner voice, and linking current patterns to historical roots to allow for deeper change. I integrate Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and somatic approaches into foundational psychodynamic interventions to help bring meaningful change into your life and relationships. Clients often describe feeling calmer, more present, and better equipped to move through life’s challenges through working with me.

My presence in the therapy room is steady, warm, humorous, and compassionate. My work is grounded, relational, and body-aware. I help clients slow down, notice what’s happening internally, and develop practical tools for emotional regulation, stress management, and self-understanding.

I work with clients navigating anxiety, mood challenges, identity shifts, parenting, and major life transitions. I also support individuals, couples, and varied relational dynamics in improving communication, navigating conflict, and moving from periods of disconnection toward healthier, more secure connection.

Background

Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent nearly 20 years as a trauma-informed yoga teacher (E-RYT 500), mindfulness practitioner, and writer. I meet people in various stages of recovery and combine my background in yoga and mindfulness with somatic psychotherapy. Because of my history in building awareness through the body-mind connection, I am able to perceive important shifts in the moment, notice when dysregulation is present, and build each client’s skills through in session co-regulation practices. Through my previous work at a DBT clinic, I am skilled in cognitive restructuring and helping folks reframe patterned thoughts, in addition to shifting maladaptive behaviors.

Qualifications

I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #160976) in Pasadena, CA, working under the supervision of Abigail A. Wambaugh (LMFT #108742). I completed a Master of Arts in Clinical Therapy from Antioch University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Central Florida.
