Prior to your session, I will send you a link to my client portal and have you fill out a series of paperwork that includes basic information about you, goals for treatment, current symptoms, privacy practices, and informed consent. At your initial session, we will review any questions you had about the paperwork and spend some time getting to know you and what brings you to therapy. The first few sessions allow me to get a sense of what has been going on for you and what we will be addressing in treatment.
Sessions are typically 45 minutes in length and occur weekly. I have found therapy works best weekly for most people and allows for the most growth and progress.
The length of therapy depends on what you are hoping to address and your goals for our time together. If you are looking to address a current crisis or minor symptoms, it may only take 3 months. If the issues that bring you to therapy have been with you for years, it will take several months or year(s) to help you resolve and heal deep wounds. I do not believe most people should be in indefinite therapy, but I do believe therapy is a deeply personal experience between two people and that there are no quick fixes. I work to be in discussion with my clients throughout our time together about the changes they are seeing, ongoing concerns, shifts in goals, and when it makes sense to reduce sessions or discontinue therapy.
Therapy is a financial, time, and emotional investment in you. Sessions are $180 for individual sessions and $200 for couple sessions. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on need, and I provide reduced fees for multiple times a week therapy.
I value your autonomy and privacy deeply, and for that reason I work independently. I offer a monthly superbill, which is available upon request. Often PPO insurance plans will accept superbills from private practice therapists and allow you to receive partial compensation for session fees. You will be responsible for filing your own claims and coordinating with your insurance to determine the rate at which they will reimburse you.
